This is a fast-tracked position for an energetic, outdoorsy person who would like to learn a trade and embark on a career. After one to three months of training, our goal is to promote you to an independent Irrigation Technician with your own service route. From time-to-time, the work can be very physically demanding as you assist technicians in servicing and repairing irrigation systems. The Irrigation Technician position starts in April and runs through December. Hours are 40+ per week, Monday-Friday, with an occasional Saturday. Depending on applicants’ qualifications, we are offering pay of $14.00+ per hour, plus commission and bonuses. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required. Experienced irrigation Technicians are also needed, pay is considerably higher.
During your training period, you would be assisting our Irrigation Technicians in various duties. After training, you will work independently on tasks such as:
- Repairing lawn sprinkler systems
- Operating and programing sprinkler controllers
- Recording materials used on the job
- Installing new water-conserving irrigation products
- Inventory management
- Interacting with customers
- Recording and tracking job data
- Producing invoices and collecting payments
- Making sure the customer is well-informed and happy with the service every step of the way
Candidates need a customer-focused disposition, and to always put the customers’ needs first. You should be professional in appearance and attitude, along with being eager to learn. You should also have an unceasing desire for self-improvement and continuing education. Prior experience is not needed, as TriState Water Works provides on-the-job training. We also help you advance in your career through paid training opportunities and earning irrigation certifications.
In addition, candidates should have a mechanical mindset and be able to diagnose and repair mechanical systems. Having a background in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, automotive, landscape or construction are a plus.
